Standard Training Assessment and Reward (STAR Scheme)
The National Skill Certification and Monetary Reward Scheme, that is branded as STAR (Standard Training Assessment and Reward) for promotional purposes, is a scheme launched by the Government in 2013 to motivate the youth of India to acquire a vocational skills and envisages a monetary reward that will in essence financially help those who wish to acquire a new skill or upgrade their skills to a higher level.
The National Skill Certification and Monetary Reward Scheme, was operational between August 2013 and September 2014.
NSDC is the designated implementing agency of the scheme and is working through various Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), Training Providers (TPs) and independent Assessment Agencies (AAs).
The objective of this Scheme is to encourage skill development for youth by providing monetary rewards for successful completion of approved training programs. Specifically, the Scheme aims to:
